After celebrating Resurrection Sunday, we are filled with awe and left with much to reflect upon. I think of the hymn “My Savior’s Love” (also known as “I Stand Amazed”), which says,
“I stand amazed in the presence
of Jesus the Nazarene,
And wonder how He could love me,
A sinner condemned, unclean. How marvelous! How wonderful!
And my song shall ever be:
How marvelous! How wonderful!
Is my Savior’s love for me!”
Beloved, take a moment to reflect on the incredible truth that our God, who came to this earth in the humblest form, willingly died to save us. He considered it a joy to suffer and die for you and me. Oh, what a Savior!

What should our response be to such love? You already know the answer; it’s why you serve Him today. Amen? While this may not be groundbreaking, we all need the reminder. Nothing that Jesus asks of us compares to the cross of Calvary. Although every act of obedience may come with sacrifices, it pales in comparison to His sacrifice. Therefore, it is reasonable for a loving God, who died for us, to ask us to live for Him.

Our issue isn’t that we don’t know this truth; it’s that we often struggle to surrender our minds and our will to its reality. The only way to understand God’s will and demonstrate, or prove, it is by renewing our minds; bending our will to His ways. In our sinful nature and through the world’s perspective, that obedience can seem far too “expensive.” So, we attempt to balance everything to the best of our ability, offering a half-hearted effort to a wholly perfect God.
By changing our mindset, we can embrace this truth: “Jesus paid it all; all to Him I owe.” We sing it, but do we live like we believe it?
Oh, if anything sticks with you today, let it be this: obedience, though it will cost you something, isn’t expensive—but, you and I were! May we follow Him with passion, being found steadfast, unmoveable, and always abounding in the work!
