It feels like it’s taken a lifetime to get to this post, but it’s taken a long time to get to this place in my life… so I guess that’s fitting!

(If you haven’t visited Part 1 or Part 2, I’d encourage you to do that and then join us back here.)

In addition to being settled and sure in my salvation and my calling, I have come to be settled and sure of my identity. I want to preface this piece by saying this isn’t about pronouns or how I “identify.” (Although, on the authority of the Word of God, I am settled on those issues as well.)

What I mean is I’ve learned that my true identity is in who Christ says I am. Period. It’s that simple…and the same is true for you, Beloved!

Perhaps you have never struggled with your identity in Christ, your calling, or your eternal security. That’s wonderful! However, many of us have faced these battles, and they are very real. As my husband reminds me, “Satan doesn’t fight fair.”

Our minds and hearts can become filled with doubt that is absolutely crippling. However, we are given a remedy in 2 Corinthians 10:5: “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”.

That verse provides a very vivid picture of the battle in our minds. The word “exalt” means to raise with pride; to make undue pretensions to power, rank, or estimation; to elevate too high or above others. Interestingly enough, it can also mean to raise, as the voice; to raise in opposition. Knowing that definition helped me to see that these lies and doubts are the enemy’s attempts to elevate himself above and rage against Truth.

As I reflected on the aforementioned realization and my journey with doubt to this point, the Lord prompted me to create a reading plan. I was thrilled (and relieved) because I had much to express, but I cannot say it better than the Lord already has, amen?

If you’d like to spend October in the Word with us, print or screenshot the image below. Please let us know you’ll be reading through this plan and share it with a friend! (I hope you enjoy this format. I’m old school and love a calendar I can write and doodle on.)

Our prayer is that you be settled and sure not only in knowing who you are but also in understanding Whose you are. As the Lord works in your heart and mind through His Word, may you become more steadfast, unmovable, and abounding in the Lord’s work!
