Happy New Year! If you’re new here, we’re glad you’ve joined us. Do you choose a word, verse, theme, or goal for the year? Personally, I find that selecting a word of the year encompasses all of these aspects. It gives me a verse to meditate on, a goal for personal and spiritual growth, and by the end of the year, it becomes my theme—my anthem, if you will.

For example, our Word of the Year for 2025 was abound. (I’m sure that doesn’t surprise the observant reader.) Naturally, it comes from 1 Corinthians 15:58, which was our key verse. Our prayer for this year was to abound in His work, not just with the addition of this blog to our ministry, but also in our efforts to balance everything.

The enemy attempted to derail us multiple times, and we look forward to sharing more about that in future posts, God willing. However, through it all, the Lord taught us an important lesson about “abounding”, found in Philippians 4:12. “I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.”

At the start of the year, we focused on the exhortation in 1 Corinthians, but amidst various circumstances, the Lord has led us to the truths in Philippians. Abounding isn’t just about quantity; it’s about quality. It’s not just about numerical growth; it’s about spiritual growth. Through our efforts to abound, we learned to be content, yet not complacent.

Hopefully, you now understand what I mean by this practice being all-encompassing. With that said, our Word of the Year for 2026 is: BELIEVE.

I’ve shared before how I connect with the father’s plea in Mark 9:24: “Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.” This year, I’ve wrestled with that, praying for things while feeling a smidge of doubt. Have you ever felt this way, beloved?

In my season of doubt, this verse in Luke stood out to me, and I have clung to it. I claim its promise every day, and it is our key verse for 2026.

The first thing that struck me was the simple faith. “…she that believed”. God said it, and that was enough. How convicting! The second was the promise: “…there SHALL be a performance”. Don’t you love that word? Not just any ol’ answer, but a performance. I hope you know God wants to show up BIG. Do you believe that?

I have no idea what 2026 holds, but I’m believing for a performance by the Almighty God who cannot lie, and wants to do great and mighty things!

May it be so, for us all in Jesus’ name.

Until next time, be steadfast, unmovable, and abound, beloved.
