This flashback brings back wonderful memories, especially now that we no longer have “babies” in the house. I remember as a young mother taking my toddler to the grocery store. As we strolled down the aisles, a box of store-brand cookies caught my child’s eye. I had already decided to pick up dessert from the bakery, so I explained that just around the corner was a better choice of cookies.

Not fully grasping my intentions, my child pouted as I continued to shop. However, a big smile replaced the frown when the aroma of freshly baked cookies filled the air, and a carefully packaged dozen was placed in our cart.

As I continued shopping, the Lord gently whispered to my heart … “How often does that happen between you and Me?” Great conviction filled my soul. I knew exactly what He meant. Don’t you?

How often do we walk through life impatiently settling for the cheap substitutes, thinking we know best? (Bear in mind, I’m not talking about a grocery store bargain anymore. LOL I will be the first to snatch up a deal!) But, when it comes to life, aren’t you thankful we don’t ever have to compromise? We can choose to walk in obedience, knowing God’s best is “just around the corner”, too, and His timing is perfect!

With that, I remind you to stay steadfast, unmovable, and always abounding, Beloved.
