As the first quarter of 2025 comes to a close, we find ourselves on the cusp of a new season of life and ministry. Perhaps the best way to describe our state of mind before these big changes is in Philippians 4:6-7.

I’m sure you’re familiar with these verses and can relate to the feeling of God closing the door on one part of your story to prepare you for the next chapter. Much like us, it’s likely that you enter a time of prayer, expressing gratitude for what God has done in your life and ministry thus far while also seeking guidance for what lies ahead. Naturally, the idea of change brings about some concerns and questions, doesn’t it?

As we tuned into the Lord’s guidance, our apprehension transformed into heartfelt requests made to our Heavenly Father. True to the promise of the verse, our hearts were filled with a profound peace that we could hardly put into words! Isn’t it wonderful that the verse says “shall,” not “might” or “probably will”? No, it says SHALL keep your hearts and minds. And we know this promise is reliable because it comes from Jesus! Not only can we all count on Him, but we can also trust that as He keeps and prepares us for the next season of life, He will empower us!

So many times, we take these two verses and stop reading. “Praise God, He’s got this!” we rejoice, rightfully so. However, might we challenge you to consider verse 8 when you are transitioning? Let’s look at it together.

As we seek to understand the Lord’s will, it’s important to take time for self-evaluation. Just like pruning a garden to make way for new flowers in spring, we should assess what’s in our hearts and lives—our homes, relationships, walk with the Lord, and so on—against this verse. Is __________________ true? Honest? Just? Pure? Lovely? Worthy? Of a good report? Virtuous? Praiseworthy? Will it be beneficial in this new season, or will it act like a weed in the garden, hindering and holding you back? Speaking from present-day experience, this isn’t easy.

Perhaps this is also where you find yourself today, and it’s difficult to just trust the process. You want to believe the Lord has it all worked out on the other side, but your focus is on what you can see, not what you know the Lord can accomplish. Let us encourage you with a verse that’s blessed us this week.

Isn’t that a wonderful truth? Are your thoughts fixed on what He can do? Do you trust Him? He has perfect peace waiting for you, and just as you can place your trust in Him for eternity, you can trust Him with whatever you’re facing today.

Step back, refocus, and return to the drawing board with perfect peace that surpasses all understanding. Then, you can approach the brink of a new season with fresh eyes and a readiness to hear from the Lord.

Stay steadfast, unmovable, and always abounding….
